Michael over at Developsense has an interesting reply to a recent blog entry regarding continuous integration.
Now I believe the IMVU post was intended to illustrate the dev process capabilites of large-scale CI and not to claim they produce bug-free software. However, the buzz that the post generated on the web (and even in my company) really took off. I’ve heard people speak as if IMVU had exchanged their testers for some elaborate network of bots. Michael makes a simple and familiar argument- even with an extensive automated CI system from the future, creative and passionate testers are required to make a quality product.
The post that should follow is all the ways the IMVU dev/test teams have been able to improve overall product quality now that they don’t have to chase preventable integration issues.

Yes, I agree with that. Except… it didn’t seem to happen.
